The health and social care (HCS) sector is undergoing big changes all over the UK and as such, Bristol and its surrounding areas is changing too.
In recent years, the local government in Bristol has felt that there hasn’t been enough provision for social care and in the next few years, this is set to change.
More than 1.3 million new social carers needed across the UK
Demand for health and social care services is set to increase in the near future. The UK has an aging population that will need care services more and more and there are also governmental plans to expand the diversity and availability of services in both the private and public sector.
A study by the Care Association Alliance found that to cope with the increases in demand for health and social care, the UK would need to recruit and train 128,000 new workers each year until 2030. This would result in around 1.3 million more carers in the UK by the end of the decade.
It could be time for you to star a new career in social care
This drive in recruitment is driven partly by the rising demand and also by the fact that tougher immigration regulations are going to make it harder for care providers to find staff from outside the UK.
If you’re thinking about starting a career in health and social care then it’s a great time to do it and Bristol is a great place to do it in. There’s set to be more governmental funding for the sector, as well as more training opportunities for entry-level and experienced carers.
The best place to start looking for a social care job
Even though the health and social care sector is being revitalised, it helps to start off your search with the best people. With the increased demand for care staff, there will be lots of providers and settings advertising for new carers. The sheer number of roles on offer may make it difficult for job-hunters, especially those new to the HSC sector, to find the best employers.
Here at Bristol Care Jobs we only partner with care providers that are rated Outstanding or Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This means that by working with any of these providers, you can be confident in the levels of service delivered and also in the quality of the in-house training you’ll receive.
The CQC is an independent body which assesses care providers and settings, in both the private and the public sector.
An Outstanding rating from the CQC means that the provider offers an exceptional service and a Good rating means that the provider offers a service which meets all of the CQC’s expectations.
Bristol Care Jobs doesn’t feature or work with any providers whose most recent rating was either Requires Improvement or Inadequate. This means that by using the BCJ website you can easily find care roles and employers that you can be confident in.
